I was looking
forward to the thunderstorm forecast on Thursday. I wanted to stay in
bed, knit and have the rain provide the soundtrack. Of course, when our
local TV meteorologists hype up a storm it's nearly always a no-show.
So it was no surprise to wake to sunny skies yesterday morning.
Still
too sad to be social, but in the mood for a photo-outing, I told
Marissa I wanted to investigate the spot next door to us. I've been
wanting to check it out since we moved here 'cos I was convinced it
would be the perfect picture-taking vista for one of my favorite
subjects to shoot: cloudy blue skies.
I've always believed Anaheim has the most beautiful cloudy skies — even prettier than the ones I saw while living at the beach in Corona del Mar. It's as though Disney animators draw 'em! Obviously I was having fun with my own World of Color with the above photo of the Downtown Anaheim skyline. If you enlarge the photo (x2), you can make out some of the attractions at Disney's California Adventure on the horizon. In fact, even the Matterhorn is visible from this spot, as seen in this shot!
This is the historic Samuel Kraemer Building — the first high-rise structure in Anaheim. It was built back in 1924-1925. Mr. Kraemer lived and worked in Anaheim — and became one of the wealthiest men in Southern California when oil was discovered on his land around 1919. (In the background, the white cylinder-shaped place is the skating rink where the Stanley Cup-winning Anaheim Ducks practice). I LOVE living in an historic district and in a town where its past is as valued as its future.
...and back down on the ground, Spring has arrived in our village neighborhood.

I am typing this while it is stormy and sooo windy outside and I look at the sky pictures and it makes me feel warm! I love how you frame a lot of your pictures. So beautiful.

I LOVE the 3rd shot of the Kraemer building. Great perspective. The shot of the flowers brightens my day. We dont have too many of them yet here in the mitten state though it wont be long now!! Happy Easter!
