I love a new year and the idea of having a benchmark every three-hundred sixty-five days! I would go crazy if there wasn't that feeling of being renewed on January 1st. Whether a certain year had a majority of good or bad things happen, I love having that measurement of time to pinpoint those things. Sort of like seasons of your favorite television show. I believe that not having the idea that a new year means a new start especially after having a horrible year that my psyche would just come to a breaking point.
As excited as I was to welcome in 2012 at midnight, I was eagerly awaiting this week. This week marks the end of The Most Horrible Year Ever. I'm able to celebrate this anniversary because my family is in our home (now with cable and high-speed Internet!) thanks in part to The Year of the Most Appreciated Acts of Kindness From Friends and Strangers Ever.
While it may sound like a cliche to some, for me (along with a whole bunch of people who had a really, really bad year — not just a bad hair day) being able to say the phrase "Good-bye and Good Riddance" to two-thousand eleven from somewhere safe and sound and sincere meant a hell of a lot.
And it's also from that sincere place that I wish you all a Happy New Year. Just remember, nothing can be worse in 2012 than John Cusack's acting in it. :)

I'd totally blocked out that John Cusack movie.

I agree, good-bye and good riddance to 2011. 2012 HAS to be better (she says with fingers crossed)!

Linda ~ The movie was almost exactly what I hoped for. The only thing missing were the aliens attacking the Arks at the end, making it the perfect segue for a sequel.
Christine: Crossing fingers, toes and eyes.
